How to name clothes?

Hi, this has probably been asked many times but how do you mums label your children’s school clothes? I’ve tried iron on labels that just fall off in the wash, a name stamp that was rubbish & a pen that is supposed to be for naming clothes but the ink just runs 😔 I can’t sew to save my life so I’d rather not have sew in labels. If anyone can give me any links to companies that do good quality iron on labels that don’t fall off I will be soo grateful.

I use a laundry pen. Try another brand if the one you have is no good. Just overwrite the laundry label or in the rim on the shirt collar and redo if it fades after a few washes.

You mums?! Anyway...... I always write on the inside of the collar in Sharpie, not on the label, which can be cut out!

Laundry marker/sharpie. But for expensive things, nothing beats a sewn in label with another up one of the sleeves in case the main one is cut out

I started using labels but it was a huge faff and they didn't always stay in. Now I just write names into/onto everything

Which stamp did you use? There seem to be a few different ones. I've bought a stamptastic one that lots of friends have raved about!

I do sew in labels (partly because one child struggles to get clothing on the right way around or on the right part of the body and she's been trained to look for a name tape (or one that says "back" on her casual clothes) to make sure she gets things on the right way around.

If it's something expensive I'll also label it in sharpie in several places as well -like inside pockets or sleeves or whatever... depends what school you're at but lots do have a problem with uniform being nicked and name labels taken out.

I have stickins as well that I'll use for things like waterbottles and pencil cases and the like - they stay well on on the care label as well - but I still try to sew in as much as I can before I finally lose the will to live on it.

If you're using Biro or whatever please re-check that it's legible every couple of washes as it's a nightmare trying to decipher it when it's faded.

Easy2name. I got the starter kit which had clothes stickers, shoe stickers and stickers for other items (packed lunch boxes, bags, bottles). All have survived the dishwasher/washing machine amazingly well!

I use stickers from petit ferand, haven't had one come off yet.

We use stikins - they are so good! Stay on through many washes and dishwasher etc and suitable all clothes and kit/water bottles and shoes etc. I've had mine printed with phone number too so coats left in the park or similar should make their way home.

I use sew in nametapes and, for stuff that can't be nametaped, I use Stikins (for shoes and book bags).

When my son started school, I'd never sewed anything but I soon got the hang of it.
