School skirt for 10 year old with curves

DD (age 10) has hit puberty with a vengeance and I'm struggling to find suitable uniform. For years, I have relied on the M&S longer length skirts, buying down an age size so the waist is skinny enough but the longer length means it's at her knees.

These are now no good, because the elasticated waist won't go over her bottom / hips. She still has a slim waist, but is now curvier than your average 10 year old.

Ideally, I need a grey skirt with a zip on the side that comes in at the waist i.e. isn't just straight up and down. Any ideas? Browsing online is not helping me here!

.is this any good?

It has a zip and a mechanism for adjusting the waist.

@MarchingFrogs

Wow, thank you! Will give that a try

Stating the obvious here but can't she put the skirt on over her head?

I recently bought DD a two-pack of M&S school skirts which have a side zip and adjustable waistband so sound like what you're looking for.

I think it's these: www.marksandspencer.com/girls-2-pack-pleated-skirts-with-adjustable-waist/p/p60100378?image=SD_04_T76_0197_T0_X_EC_90&color=GREY&prevPage=srp&pdpredirect

They only have did zips from age 11-12 upwards - before that they're just pull-on with no zip.

Get an M&S skater skirt if these are allowed

DropZoneOne · 30/07/2018 19:38

@SadieHh her shoulders are as broad as her hips!

Ooh, spreading I didn't realise the M&S larger sizes had zips, there's no mention of that on their website. I'll order those and see.

froglet the skater skirts end up being too short, by the time I've gone up big enough for the length, the waist is huuuge!

Keep all suggestions coming though - I can't be the only parent with a non-standard shaped child Grin

I buy adult size 6-8 for my 10yo. Teen ranges just don't seem to cater for small waist and wide hips.

There are a really good selection of styles at John Lewis - adjustable waists too - any help ?
My DD is only 7 but age 7 is pretty long in some styles .
