Sew in labels/Polo shirts

Hi

Son is starting reception in September.

Can anyone advise the best place to sew in labels on polo shirts? They are logo-ed and not cheap so am adding more labelling than a quick sticker on supermarket stuff.

At the neckline, should I sew onto the back of the collar, thicker ridge between collar and body or somewhere else?

Thanks!

our school specifies at the back, in the middle and judt under the collar as this is the best spot to easily see them.

I did mine on the ridge between he collar and the body - worked a treat x

Use a sharpie and write the name on the thicker ridge where collar is sewn in. Sewn in labels can be cut out

My advice is to make sure your child can recognise from the label that it's their polo shirt. I had brightly coloured ones with just DS's first name and a little picture on and put them on the collar. That way he knew he was putting on the right polo shirt/jumper etc in the first place and there was less chance of mix ups. It seems to have worked so far!

Thanks everyone, may try on the ridge plus an extra sticker on the label. We have rainbow labels and ones with a rabbit so that should help!

I usually use that thick ridge of binding between the collar and the body of the polo and just catch the surface of it with the stitches. Then I sharpie the name on the same ridge alongside on stuff I'm really precious about as a "fuck off and don't think of stealing this and taking the labels out" measure.

And make sure your child knows where to look to find them!

Agree with others, on the ridge between collar and shirt has worked perfectly for us in the past. Easily spotted, easy to catch a stitch on the ridge and doesn't rub anywhere on the skin.
