In Year Application - Compelling Social/Medical

I am just about to apply for a place for my child on compelling social/medical grounds (am very aware threshold is high to qualify for this category).

The Year group I'm applying for is full and it is KS1 so ICS legislation applies. However, if we are accepted into the category then I am confident we will gain a place in the not too distant future. When the application is received, I understand that it is usually processed within 2 weeks.

Does anybody know how the assessment for whether you are accepted into the above category is done? Do we have to wait for a panel to decide or is it down to the admissions Manager? If it's a panel is there a usually a lengthy wait? It is a Local Authority school, waiting list is maintained by them. Thanks.

It varies from LA to LA and will be explained somewhere buried in their documentation on admissions on their website. Frankly it will be quicker to ask the LA than try and find what it says on their website. Often it is a senior LA officer who will consult what medical expertise they need to.
