How many parents' evening a year is normal?

At DC's school they get one early in the first term and one in the middle of the year. Is this what most primary school's do? I was sort of surprised not to have an end of year parents' evening.

One in November, one in the spring term and reports in July. Once a term we have an open morning to go and look at their work but there isn't a chance to talk to the teacher as class is still going. It's enough I think. You can always make an appointment to discuss any concerns.

Do you get an end of year report, OP? We found all the summer parents evening was us saying what was already written in there so we stopped that one. We will meet with parents with any queries about reports, but just to repeat the report information is a waste of everyone's time. Plus any information coming the other way, from parents, is too late to act upon by us by then. If it's important information (x feels they are struggling with spelling, how do I improve. Xs handwriting, x is having friendship issues with y) we should have spoken about it much earlier in the year.

Yes user1955 . It’s one of those ones that is clearly created by drop down menus from some piece of software. The language about our DC is hilariously inappropriate, more suited to a corporate review than a school report. But, yes.

By law the school must provide "an opportunity" for parents to discuss the content of the report.

Our school have 2 parent evenings. One in the Autumn term, one in Spring term.
For the summer term, after they have given the report out, they have open afternoon and evening, so that parents can drop in to have a chat with teacher. Also we have to send back the receipt of report, which has a section to request meeting with a teacher if we wanted to.
