If so can you give me details on fathoming out what the scores mean?

We’ve not made a huge deal about it with Ds (although his dgrandad keeps asking Hmm will be comparing both grandsons no doubt) but I’d still like to know what’s expected.

Cross post!

Do grandparents get involved in year 6 SATs results now?

I can't even tell you what my DC got and I'm pretty sure their grandparents don't even know what SATs are.

Just lie if it's going to cause problems with the grandchildren

Results are given as standardised scores which range from 80 to 120. Anything over 100 is 'expected standard' (so working at age related expectations). You should also receive your child's raw scores (marks they got in tests) and they will publish the correlation between raw and standardised scores.

Just because school gets them on Tue doesn't mean they will be passed straight on to parents/children same day.
e.g. Our primary kept them back until Fri then gave them to the children in sealed envelopes addressed to parents as they left at the end of the day.
Great system as it discouraged too much comparing of results.

Patti, I really don’t understand why he feels the need to keep asking! I’ve tried to explain that regardless of the results high school will sit their own tests (which is true in ds case) but every time we visit he asks.

It’s just another thing to compare the grandkids by Sad

Just tell him your DC did very well and you're very proud and you don't want the GCs compared so you aren't giving out the exact results.

Thanks Mamma for explaining and thanks everyone.

Ds told me he’d be getting his SATs results tomorrow which is why I asked. Must be mistaken.

I really hope his school give the results in sealed envelopes.

Just tell him they did well, no way would I give him the actually scores!

RockYourSocksOff · 04/07/2018 20:46

Teen, I’ll have to think of something, although Ds will probably tell him anyway if he’s asked. It really is awful, he seems overly invested in knowing the results.
