How would you feel about a 3/satisfactory ofsted rprt?

For primary schl?

Very average, below national standards for Maths & Eng.

Generally average with a 1 for behaviour of pupils- outstanding and nice things said about atmosphere etc.

Am just a bit ummm about it. Not helped by mum who hates the school, going on at me....

Anyone?? And anyway what could I do? Wouldn't really want to take them out (will have 3 there by next yr)

I would feel happy to have my children there. Especially with a 1 for behaviour and positive atmosphere. As a teacher I am only too aware that Ofsted reports are only a rough guide, because they depend so much on the personal feelings of the inspection team about what makes good practice. I have been given very positive feedback by Ofsted about some aspect of teaching, and friends of mine who did exactly the same have been slammed by their inspection team.

Do you like the school? Are your children happy there? How are they doing? That matters much more than Ofsted reports.

thanks - this is my first child going thru (I have 3), so I guess I don't know what reports should be. I suppose I was a bit disappointed with the maths and english stuff.

Yes, generally happy and the sons I have there - Yr1 and nursery are quite happy. It is a very small schl - just over 200 which appeals to me.

satisfactory is just ofsted language. Satisfactory is good enough when they are given a 1 for atmosphere etc - 1 is outstanding in ofsted speak adn they hardly ever give 1's! They will score satisfactory overall if they have poorish sats results - but poor sats results could be down to lots of things.
