Head removed from school by "men in suits"

happened during the school day. Head hasn't been back since, parents have been told he is taking a leave of absence, so deputy in charge. C. 6/7 "men in suits". Some reports include handcuffs but I didn't see any.

So, assuming it relates to something at school, it must be finance or safeguarding?

Head has been in post nearly 2 decades and school has been outstanding for years. The community is reeling. What/when should we expect to be told?

My first thought was a malicious allegation, but the response seems OTT for something complete unsubstantiated. There have been allegations at schools I've worked at and they haven't been handled like this. What's your experience?

Never seen this outside of tv land

BertrandRussell · 28/06/2018 17:23

This happened at a school near us. It was fraud.

ImAGoofyGoober · 28/06/2018 17:24

My limited experience of the police for serious crimes is that they don’t really wear suits. Not sure what else it could be though?

There must be a big gossiper at school, can you find them and start digging?

chocolatesprinkle · 28/06/2018 17:25

Why do you think you should be told anything?

MollyHuaCha · 28/06/2018 17:27

Possibly spending the school budget on self. Happened to a primary head locally here.

l worked for the police for 28 years, six and a half with CID. 6-7 'men in suits' seems a hell of a lot if it was police! ln most places that would be the entire CID section!
l'm sure there'll be a lot of gossip and conjecture, but take it with a pinch of salt. The truth will out eventually.

Maybe stop speculating and listening to gossip and see what happens? Confused

Halfblindbunny · 28/06/2018 17:31

Was he removed or did he just leave with them. Someone where I work left the building with a couple of guys in suits and everyone was convinced he had been arrested. They had actually come to give him some very bad news and that's why he didn't return to work for a long time after. Who mentioned handcuffs?

Neolara · 28/06/2018 17:32

It happened to this head teacher....

Quickerthanavicar · 28/06/2018 17:32

It's happened in two other schools too. What is going on?

BubblesBuddy · 28/06/2018 17:33

I just responded on your duplicate thread.

No experience. However, it must be safeguarding or embezzlement. I guess he is not running a drug cartel. I am surprised there was no obvious Police car or Police in uniform. I would think this is extraordinarily rare. It seems heavy handed.

I would also expect the Chair of Governors to say something to parents. Keep an eye on the web site and the book bag! Do let us know what has happened!

Whatdoido2018 · 28/06/2018 17:34

Katseyes7 Wow! I bet you've seen some crazy things! Wine

It's happened in two other schools too.

Today??

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 28/06/2018 17:45

At this time of the year, men in white coats wouldn't be surprising.
Don't fret, your school Facebook rumour mill will be in overdrive.

Quartz2208 · 28/06/2018 17:46

Whilst not at a school it happened at my workplace with the CEO - that was fraud/embezzlement so suspect its the same here

StrandedStarfish · 28/06/2018 17:50

Errrr it happens more often than you think. The attached refers to firstborns former headteacher

It was a touch of sarcasm from Quickerthanavicar I believe Zibbidoo but it wasn't my fault!

Maybe he's an alien and it was the men in black taking him away?

Ahh!! Thanks OP Grin

PatriciaHolm · 28/06/2018 17:59

"some reports" - from who, exactly?

HollowTalk · 28/06/2018 18:00

I would think that they were concerned he'd get rid of computer evidence. I wonder why they let him get into school that day, though. It would have been easier to arrest him at home.

Notquiteagandt · 28/06/2018 18:04

We had something simular happen.turned out teacher in questions son had been killed abroad. They where from the forgien office coming to inform him of his death.

Another time someone came to school and took away a teacher was her husband in the forces had been injured. It was miltery men coming to inform her he was being flown home.to take her to the airport to meet the plane.

The fact he has now taken a leave of absense sounds to me more like someone in his family etc has been hurt. Just with them being in suits etc. Pretty sure not standard dya to day police wear?

Also surely they would say suspended pending inveatigation not just hes taking some time off?

ReadingRiot · 28/06/2018 18:05

I saw the suits. Some of the other adults who also saw suits report seeing handcuffs. If they were there I didn't see them. We'd been in for a "literacy walk" with DC.

Call me old fashioned Chocolate but if there's been a major failing in management or safeguarding at my DC's school I do think I should be told "something"
