Doing stuff in one minute - is this SATS? Or something else I don't know about?

there were lots of things on the tables in dd1s class this morning - how many pages can I read in a minute, can I say the alphabet in a minute

'ooh' say the other mums 'I know what this is' knowing glances and giggles

what? what is it?

I have no clue. Do let us know if you find out.

i dunno about the doing things in a minute - that didn't feature in our "introduction to SATS talk the other week" but I suspect dd1 is doing SATS this morning. her teacher wouldn't specify exactly when.

Enid, I do things like this when I'm intoducing the topic of time - how old is Dd1?

foxinsocks · 23/05/2007 11:35

I dunno

I asked dd whether she had done any tests as all the other parents seemed to be talking about SATS and what they were like and she said X was cheating, I didn't fancy filling in the coloured book and Y was sick on the carpet so I stopped asking.

But I guess it might have something to do with that.

Durrr - sorry, pg brain got to me,she'll be in year 2 then?! I have never known any of our yr 2 staff do anything like this for sats but it could very well be linked in some way?Maybe a visual aid for a mental maths test?

Agree with HonorMatopoeia - I expect they are doing topic on 'time', and focusing on how long a minute actually is, what it feels like in actual time, using timers, 60 secs and all that. If only SATs did take 1 minute. That would be a turn up for the books.
