No, the address needs to be the children's home.

You have 2 choices -

  • apply now using your current address; if spaces exist they must be given to you. Normally you would have to take them up within a couple of weeks, but you might be able to negotiate a sept start now.

If there are no spaces you can go on waiting lists and then update the address as soon as you move.

  • apply as soon as you have a provable address in the new area.

You can't apply from an address you don't live in.

We are going to be moving in august also, I called school admissions for the area and asked what I needed to do , they advised the in year school transfer form and advised to put down where we should be moving and reasons for school choice, they advised it's easier to cancel a place and until my boy actually starts at new school they keep both places open for the child in question. Good luck !, This has caused more sleepless nights than I thought as the closest school to us is in special measures which I didn't realise and now I've picked an over subscribed school which is marked as outstanding so keeping fingers crossed as it's only slightly further than the special measures school !

I’ve done this using a family members address to secure an in year place for Dd1. LA have accepted it, as well as the school. Although Dd2 already has a place to start reception so I’m not sure if they bent the rules a little to accommodate me.
