Mental arithmetic for 7yo dd

Does anybody have any suggestion to improve dd mental arithmetic? She is learning her times table, but often needs a pen and paper to work it out, rather than doing it in her head. Same thing with simple adding, subtraction and division. Any tips?

Times Table Rock Star

Does she understand the concept of add/sub/divide/multiply?
What do you mean by simple add/sub, etc? Does she get number bonds/doubles/more/less, etc?

If she doesn't understand the numbers, just remembering times tables won't help. Does she get count in 2s, 5s, 10s, etc?

Take her shopping ask her to work out the price. Addition.
BOGOFF how much each. Is it a bargain?

Bus fares x2 even if you don't usually take the bus.

Lots of practical Maths. Much more fun and useful life skill.

Show her on paper how adding 10 just changes the tens value (or hundreds if needing to bridge). Then practice 72+10, 44-10.

Does she 'know' her number bonds. Does she know why she has had to learn them? To make mental maths easier.

Times tables instant recall generally comes with practice. Except with some children with slow processing / SpLD.

Mainly you need other techniques than you would use on paper. I used to model it out loud. e.g. 32 + 21 : 'Add 1 to 32 to make 33. now add 20 - 33, 43, 53'.

(Completely pointless in my case as it turns out both my DDs have various SpLD which means mental maths seems to be more or less beyond them.)
