Junior school appeal

Hi
I’m in the process of appealing my DC school place. Still trying to get my head around it all. Re the first stage I don’t think there has been any errors how would I know if there was? Assuming the admissions criteria has been followed. We are out of catchment and no siblings.

My main question is regarding PAN, I asked for the figures off the council regarding admission numbers and can see some year groups are over PAN. Would I put this in my appeal where I can put our reasons for appeal or is this something I can just bring up on the day? I have a print out of the figures from an email.

Any tips for the day? I’m so nervous. What sort of things will they ask?

I feel it's an infant class size they are capped at 30. Going over would be in exceptional cases such as it being written in a child's Education Plan (I forget the English term and we are statements in wales), which means the school has to go over PAN. An appeal can only be won if an error has been made such as they put the wrong distance or you were not put in the correct catergory.
What are you appealingly against?

To add once they get to juniors they can go over PAN as it is not then capped at 30, as it is for infants.

Put your arguments all in your submitted appeal. You can ask questions at the appeal, but you can't submit new evidence (well, you can try, but you run the risk of a strict chair not allowing it).

Which year are you appealing for?

The thread title says 'junior school' which in England usually means a school which starts at Y3. OP: could you confirm if that is the case here?

It’s for going into year 3 junior school place.
I have done a written statement and attached supporting documents.
I’m just wondering re the PAN I have a copy of the last 5 Years admission numbers which do show some classes are over PAN is this something I can just mention at the appeal or do I need to send a copy of the figures in? Will the panel have the schools admission numbers already? This isn’t the reason we are appealing but thought it may help to mention the school has coped going over PAN before?

Ignore what I said I had it in my head reception- think I've read that many of them!

It is good to show that the school has coped being over PAN so yes I would submit them. The panel will only have them if someone submits them as evidence or asks the question!
