Village schools near Faversham

Just found out we will be moving to a village south of Faversham soon, anyone have any experience of the village schools around there? Especially, Selling, Boughton, Sheldwich, Chilham etc. We'll need an in-year admission (year 1). I"m going to phone around this week to see who has vacancies but would be good to get any info about the reputation of these schools in advance. Anyone's DC go to any of those schools? Good/bad experiences? TIA.

Think Chilham has had some problems . Worth googling it in and reading old news articles .

Thank you, yes I've seen those articles. It doesn't leave a good impression but I'd have hoped that situation is resolved. Looks like they have a new Head now & last years results were good.

I have 3 children at Chilham. We joined Sept 17 after moving from London.
It was the only school at the time with places, and we were sceptical.......But it has by far exceeded our expectations. New head, great teachers and a really warm feel. It's a v v small school but it really works for us. We now feel that we got lucky!

Just to add, I have year 1 children and their teacher is wonderful and they have really come on in their reading and writing.

I have children at Selling, its a fab school. There was a blip with last year's results but would highly recommend it. Sheldwich is also a really lovely school, but I think you'll struggle to get in there. Look out for Herne Hill too which is a good school. Ethelbert Road in Faversham itself also has a great reputation. To be honest, lots of good schools to pick from if you can get a space...

Thanks for the responses. Selling & Chilham seem to be the only schools with spaces. They are very different to our current school & results-wise not on par but I know that's not everything. I was unsure about Chilham because of its size but it's good to hear positive feedback. Sounds like they are both nurturing environments which would be good for our DS who can be quite sensitive.
