Waiting Lists

Hi all, Our son has been successful in getting his first choice in a mid year transfer. We are now thinking we would like our daughter to go to the same school as him but it's oversubscribed for her year (yr2).

Can anyone advise, is it possible to put her on the waiting list without filling out any school application forms?

Why don't you want to fill in an application form? They will need the information on the form so that they can make sure she goes in the correct place on the waiting list.

If she goes into y3 in September you could appeal then and not face same class size limitations.

That is true but you will definitely have to apply if you want to go down that route. You can't appeal until you've applied and been refused a place.

Is the problem that the LA wants the head of your daughter's school to sign the forms? If so, they can't do that. They must allow you to apply for any school at any time. They must not put barriers in the way such as a requirement for the existing school to sign.

Thanks everyone. Yes prh57bridge you are right, not too keen on her current head being involved this early in the process as it was a bit of a nightmare when applying for our son.

I will fill out the forms and mention that we won't be getting the school to fill out their part of the form.

Thanks again 😁
