Primary School waiting list - support thread/positive stories!

So ... we've found out we're number 10 on the waiting list for a school with a one form entry.

As my last post states, we're appealing due to having a sibling in Year 1.

We're also just out of catchment ... so we know it's stacked against us but if you don't ask you don't get ...

Currently pulling together our appeal but hoping we magically get to #1 before then and there's a space.

That or we win the lottery

Good luck! We were in a better position as we were no 3 for a 2 form entry but we got our place in June two years ago and not looked back.

I've just found out that 3 appeals have already been lodged prior to ours ... and we're two weeks away from deadline.

This is going to be tough going!

Good luck! We don’t know our waiting list position yet, I think the information comes out tomorrow. How did you find out, just ringing the Local Authority? I know someone near here was 8th on waiting list for an oversubscribed school and got a place 2 weeks later, so you never know!

I emailed admissions and phoned up (lines constantly engaged!)

Wow to go from 8th to in within 2 weeks is amazing! Unfortunately I think only number 1 got offered a place at our school last year

We didn't find out position till after the deadline for appeals/waiting lists and as they are both at the same time we filed an appeal too.

It seems like it would be sensible though to have a waiting list deadline after maybe 2 weeks and an appeals deadline two weeks later, because if you were first on the waiting list for a huge school you wouldn't bother appealing but if 10th and you knew they'd failed to take sibling into account you would. That way our LEA wouldn't have to even receive some of the appeals.
