Uniform for- eczema sufferer

I am writing in behalf of my niece, who starts school in September. She has awful eczema, one of the many triggers is wearing non cotton clothes. We have found some uniform via eco outfitters but is pretty pricey. We are particularly looking for white ankle and knee high socks that are at least 80 % cotton and don't cost nearly £6 a pair...... Grateful for any thoughts.

Thank you so much. I hadn't realised these had such a high cotton content. X

John Lewis
Tesco
both do socks that fits this description.

Many independent school uniform shops will sell them too in my experience.

M&S also does 100% cotton shirts, polo shirts and summer dresses.

However, I have found that the M&S stuff needs 3 washes before wear in the washing liquid your child is used to before wear to avoid a flare up. This was after a horrendous first Sept with my youngest where her eczema on her arms flared up jortiy in her first weeks of school. Now we do the pre wash, thankfully this hasn't happened since

Jortiy = horribly

Don’t be afraid to talk to the school about it. Perhaps the uniform rules can be relaxed if needed.

We hit upon a gem of a TA in Dc1’s class, whose own child had suffered a lot with eczema, and she applied the creams and coached DC1 on not using the hand sanitiser.

My ds always wear cotton underwear under the uniform. He also wears bandages on his elbows and knees where he gets most flare ups.

We get uniforms from Marks as 100% cotton. Also use cotton vests under those and white short leggings under the dress to help with any issues related to grass/carpet time etc. If she is very itchy/scratchy consider talking to the teacher about a fiddle toy.
