Applying for Primaries in Sutton

Hi everyone, we're currently living in Oxfordshire and are planning to move to Sutton in time for dd to start school in 2019. Has anyone applied for primary schools before moving into the catchment area? Can it be done or are you likely to miss out on a place due to local demand?

Essentially, the local authority don't have an obligation to you until you have a provable address in the area.

If you still live away at the time of closing date of applications, you can apply using your home address, but realistically you won't get a place unless one of the schools happens to be undersubscribed. If you don't qualify for any Sutton school, your local
LEA will allocate you a school in your area but again this will be whichever has spaces.

Once you move into Sutton, they will find you a space at whichever school has spaces at that point.

So you have much more control over the process if you can move before application closing date!
