Hi, my dd started school at 4years 7 months and did not take to reading at all, she ended the year on red.
Year one she remained on red until the Christmas and then something clicked and she began to fly through the reading and left year one on turquoise which was quite an achievement for dd considering the level she started.
Now in year 2 she has just been assessed and was on purple after Christmas, she has now been moved to copper, completely missing out white, gold and lime.
This corresponds with a move around in the classroom where dd was on the 3rd table
Of 7, she's now on the first table.
One of her friends from the old table is most upset that dd has moved and asked her mum to query it with the teacher.
Teacher explained that she couldn't comment on other children ( obviously ) but the girls remain close friends and continue to play together.
So from my reckoning, dd is reading at year 3 level now and at her parents evening only last month we were told that she would definitely finish year 2 in the expected range.
2 weeks later, she moved up so is clearly exceeding not expected.
Am I getting this right?
It was one class teacher who we saw at parents evening but the other who heard her reading assessment and moved her up.
The first teacher has never heard her read and written in her journal.
Many thanks
