Does anyone have experience of the IPC either in the UK or abroad? Keen to hear particularly from people who have had experience of this abroad and how the transition back into the UK system was? I know very little about it and how it truly differs from the national curriculum. Considering a temporary posting in Holland, with children attending the International school there, but planning to return to UK for secondary education. TIA

Hi, i’m currently at a school that uses it and my child still follows the British curriculum for maths and I think English (I know I should know but my excuse is my child has extra learning needs in english😃).

My opinion is it’s very similar to topic work but if used properly there are lots of very interesting modules. In the first year my child loved it, it was taken seriously and planned for properly. Unfortunately this year the same modules as the previous year have been used although apparently to greater depth. It has been replaced by watching a film. In my opinion it hasn’t been very engaging this year.

I think if could be very interesting if used properly just don’t expect it to be a dramatically different curriculum.

There are some old threads about IPC on Mumsnet. It seems very child-led and a bit woolly. I suggest asking some hard questions about what kind of a grounding kids are getting in maths and literacy.

Maths and English are done separately at our school but i’m Not sure if that’s the norm
