Cheadle Hulme - Late reception class application

We may need to relocate to Manchester for my husband’s job and our preferred area is Cheadle Hulme.

However, our son is due to start school in September and we’ve now missed the application deadline. Do we stand any chance of getting into a really good CH school as I know a lot are oversubscribed? We currently live outside the Stockport LEA.

Anyone any experience of this and what is the best course of action please?

Thanks

There is the new school opening which will ease the pressure. I’m sure it will all work out fine

You will need to go on the waiting list for the schools of your choice and may get another Stockport Primary. Lane End is very hard to get in as one form entry, Hursthead is also popular but more places. Bramhall schools are all good. The new primary may well have more space but it’s in the Cheadle side of the area.

You won't be able to apply until you have an address so get the house sorted and then you can think about schools.

Thanks everyone.

Lifechallenges and Bella I’d seen about the new school and wondered if there would be space. I guess it’s a risk starting at a new school but hopefully it should be good if it’s the same management as Cheadle Hulme high.

Hersetta, yes lack of address is a key issue as we’d only make the move if we can get into a good school and we’d need the address to see which school we’d get so it’s a bit chicken and egg.

The new CH primary will mean less pressure on all the other schools etc. I know the staff so would have zero reservations about it. The only thing I don’t like is the uniform. I don’t get blazers for 5 year olds in 2018 or the need for infant strict uniform / trying to look like a prep school.

Or skirts only for girls... why not trousers .... ?!?!?!
I’d look elsewhere on that basis alone
