Alresford, Cheriton, Itchen Abbas, Ropley or Winchester????

Looking for advice. Hoping to move from Portsmouth soon and love the area. Just wondering what people’s thoughts were on the primary and secondary schools in the area. Is the price of Winchester houses worth it? Think we might want village life.... any thoughts on Itchen Abbas, Cheriton or Ropley? Thanks xx

I went to Kings in winchester which is great, as were westgate and Beaufort for secondary. Not sure about primaries but I know people are less happy with Perrins in Alresford. Alresford is a nice village though.

Perins is an amazing school and children come out from Winchester attend it as its so good. Last year is was in Tatler top 10 state schools 😀

For primary school look at Owslebury and West Meon. Itchen Abbas also good.

Itchen Abbas Primary is tiny, which obviously has pros and cons. Would be worth chatting to the school to see if there was likely to be any space in your required year groups. Sun Hill Junior in Alresford was judged Inadequate by Ofsted but that was a while ago, I think? Hopefully should be 'on the up' by now.

West Meon also has a fantastic pub The Thomas Lord and a great village shop plus lots of community events.

I can't say much about Cheriton other than it's Ofsted is many years out of date. They are about 2 head teachers down the line now.
