primary schools in Chiswick

Could anyone offer any advice on primary schools in Chiswick? Am currently registered at Ravenscourt Park, Chiswick and Bedford and Orchard House. I know that Ravenscourt Park is the trickiest to get into because if their ballot system. Unfortunately, was most impressed with the overall feeling of that school! Fingers crossed.

I have heard lovely reviews about all three schools though. Can anyone tell me a bit more about Orchard House and Chiswick and Bedford? Have been to visit both and like that they are smallish. My only concern with Orchard is that the classrooms are quite small for the amount of children in them. Have heard from two different families who are currently at the school that there was a big turnover in staff. Is that true? Maybe it’s just a natural turnaround? Does anyone know where the boys from Chiswick and Bedford move onto? I heard that some move to Orchard which seems logical as it is just around the corner. Where else do they go though?

Are there any other recommendations of other schools I should look into for DS? Any advice would be much appreciated! Many thanks x

I don’t have any boys and can’t speak for the other schools but I can for Orchard House as I send my daughters there. It used to be quite traditional which drew us to it in the first place. While it has gone in a different direction now, it is still a wonderful school. My children have all enjoyed their time there. Caring teachers who are easily approachable. DDs are more inclined to the creative and performance side of school life. Those are strengths of the school, in my opinion. The office is very patient and supportive, great learning support and plenty of extracurricular activities. As a parent, if you are looking for opportunities to be involved then this is a great school for that too.

Yes, we sadly lost teachers and assistants last year. I don’t think we will ever really know why they left. Sad to see them go though! Some are just on leave and we hope that they will be back.

Have you looked at Falcons? That might be of interest to you. Have you considered any state schools? There a few nice ones in the area depending on where you are located.

The haemorrhage of staff is happening again in 2020!
