St Olaves Prep New Eltham

Hiya!

Does anyone have any personal past or present experience of sending their child to St Olaves prep school in New Eltham. I have recently been to visit the school and was impressed by the family feel and the confidence of the students showing us around. My only reservations were that the classrooms seemed a little on the small side even with reduced class numbers.

My daughter is only 2 and a half so we are potentially thinking of sending her to the nursery with the plan for her to go on to the school. We don't necessarily have our hearts set on a private education but we do not live in a good catchment area for state primary schools and cannot afford at the moment to move to a better catchment area before my daughter starts school. Ironically, we would however fork out to go private with some financial help from grandparents if need be.

Any advice on St Olaves would be great! Im actually finding choosing nursery/ schools quite stressful. Being a secondary school teacher I naively thought it would make the process a lot easier.

Hello, my child is starting St Olaves this september. I don’t think classroom space is issue here. Hall and small playground may be but not classrooms. Class is 14 pupils and older children have bigger classrooms in new building. Most private schools in our area have 20-22 children in classrooms and rooms not much bigger.

My DC are at St Olaves. We love it. The small classrooms have never seemed to be an issue. They make good use of Southwood Park and the older years go to Sidcup Sports Club.

Fees cover nearly everything so very few additional costs and the breakfast/after school clubs are great and flexible.

All the teachers we have had experience with (up to year 2 now) have been brilliant and the headteacher is fantastic. The SENCO has been wonderful with my DS. There is also talk of expanding the playground but I'm not sure how far they've got with planning permission!
