Bute House Prep- school bus?

Hi I'm considering the 7+ for my daughter. I'm wondering if anyone knows if the school offers a school bus service or if parents have arranged one from the Kensington/Chelsea area? Just trying to figure out how drop offs would work with my other kids (their schools are not in Hammersmith)

No - no school bus - people come from a wide area.
There is a bit of flexibility on dropoff- breakfast club starts at 8 - so a few working parents/multiple drop-off situations use that.

Nope, you are expected to provide chauffeuring services for your child if required and indeed apparently many are :)

you should probably reconsider applying to a school that is too challenging to travel too.

true, many of the children have private chauffeurs. if you can afford it, then it's a really good idea.

Bute more than any other West London prep school? I don't think so...I thought Bute was the more down to Earth prep in West London, with more normal parents?

They are normal nice people. BTW, what's wrong with having a driver? I do not think it makes a person less normal. If a person offered to pick me up in front of my home and drive me to exactly where I needed to go and dropped me off, I think that would be very helpful.
cheekyduck · 29/03/2022 10:10

Most prep parents do not have a private chauffeur, due to the costs involved.

If you think that's normal @pkim123 I suggest you get out of the W and SW postcodes for a while and get a dose of reality.

I'm well aware that most mums do not have drivers. I'm one who has to drive herself. However, I think that people with drivers are nice people and I do not hold it against them. Also, some people with drivers have been very generous with the school. So, rather than put "normal" labels on people I prefer to treat each person as equals. If I could afford it, then I too would have a driver. Jealously is so unattractive.

How on Earth is suggesting its not normal to have a private chauffeurs, a suggestion those who do are not 'nice' ?

My DC go to prep, but it's not 'normal' to send your DC to private school when compared to the rest of the population. Its strange you're reading things into my post that simply aren't there.

And why do you think I'd be jealous to pay a man (or woman) to drive my daughter to school when I love the time I spend together going to school, and meeting and chatting to other parents?? Bizzare....

If a driver took your DD to school, then you could sit with her and have a nice discussion without being distracted by driving. You do not have to send your DD alone with your driver, you can also go along for the journey. Then when you arrive at school, you can have the driver wait while you meet and chat with other parents. Why does having a driver preclude you from talking to your DD & other parents? I'm confused.

Because I walk to school @pkim123

My point being your post said ' many of the children have private chauffeurs.' I simply asked is this the case more than any other popular prep school in West London. I asked this in the context that Bute has an image as more down to Earth compared to the 'others'.

I really don't care either way to be honest, I had a niece who went from 7 to 11, so I've always had a passing interest in the school.

No buses for Bute. Parents drive / nannies and au pairs use Ubers or take the tube or bus. Girls come from all over. Breakfast club and after school clubs help parents who have children in different schools in different areas. Others do arrangements with other parents but this can be more unreliable and problematic than relying on child care plus public transport / Ubers.

Four replies and "I really don't care either way to be honest." If you did care, then we would see what, fourteen replies? :-)

I apologise. It was wrong of me to say that. I am very sorry. I am a very insecure person. Really, I am very sorry.
