Well yes...I meant for the parent to read it.

Of course it's best to talk but not everyone has the knowledge or social skills to advise well.

My younger DD for example is far more socially clued up than I am. Sometimes, my 13 year old will seek advice from me on a social issue and then I advise that we'd better ask my 10 year old!

She always knows the right way to go and is extremely popular....which astounds me as I'm a real social failure in many ways!
