school / house move dilemma

My dc's are in Yr 1 and YR. For various rasons I looked at a different school for them on Friday.

Dilemma 1 - dd loves it and wants to go, ds is adamant that he wants to stay where he is. I actualy think it would be better for him than the current school not least becasue the transtion into Yr 1 appears much more gentle and he is the youngest in the class - I am not sure he would cope at the current school, summer born dd struggled with the change last year.

Dilemma 2 - 'new' school is 30 min drive away from where we live, have seen nice house 10 mins drive away, altho needs some work. However dh has fallen for dream house in country 35 mins drive away with lovely garden, fields on doorstep etc and actually quite close to where ds's best friend lives.

I will do most of pick ups and drop offs and parking is limited (but I don't mind parking and walking for 10 mins but I suspect dc's may be tired initially)

So - do we move both children to new school, or just dd?

Do we move to 'dream' house or 'sensible' house?

New school and dream house...

I think the kids will get over the change in school very quickly and after the summer they have a new teacher anyway

Thanks for the advice - very helpful

The only school near dream house is the one they are currently at

I think logistically you'd have to move both or neither. ds is young enough to resettle. A dream house may well turn up nearer the school if you can wait it out but have to say, having recently been in a similar position ,living 20-25 minutes drive from school, we went for the pragmatic choice less than 5 minutes drive away.

get them in same school, I would. Walk from the car will be fine, they'll get used to it.
