Hi all, I’m looking for a school around Cookham/ Marlow for my DD who will go into reception next year. Am keen on Herries after visiting and can really see DD there whilst Danesfield looks competent in different ways and is free. Anyone with recent experience of either or both? Would love to hear thoughts

I moved my child from Danesfield 2 years ago to Herries and have never looked back. The change in self confidence was almost instant and they have really thrived at Herries academically and socially. For me there is no comparison.

Hi Rugbymum, thanks for the reply! Very useful to know as we are hoping to move into a house near Herries, while currently living in catchment of Danesfield. With its Ofsted Outstanding rating and woodland setting I thought it might be worth trekking back to D if we do move as planned, but I really loved Herries when I visited. Would you mind disclosing your fors and against having experienced both?? TIA

There are pros and cons both ways and its such an individual decision and the things that are important to me may well not matter so much to you. How about visiting both schools again and if possible let your child stay for them to get a feel. Good luck!

True, thanks!

Definitely will do a trial day at H and revisiting D in early March (they ask that you don’t bring your child).
