Nursery/Primary School Advice for London, Islington please?

Hello, we’re soon to be moving to London and into the Islington and I’d really appreciate any anecdotal advice about any of the recommended independent nurseries thst secure a place at the school.
I’ve heard very mixed reviews. I find it hard to get past the school sales pitch so more personal and honest insights would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance!

Which schools were you thinking of? I know, or know of people who have children at Charterhouse Square, Children’s House, Gower and Dallington and are happy.

In terms of securing a place, Charterhouse Square has a ballot, Children’s House has a waiting list you need to get on early (I hear) and Gower nursery doesn’t guarantee a place in the upper school. Dallington is easier to get into, but has a touchy feely approach that isn’t for everyone.

None of the kids I know of who went to Rosemary Works went on to the school and I have no knowledge of the Lyceum.

If you have a choice on where to move and would consider a state school, have a look at William Tyndale, an excellent school which has a very middle class intake these days.

There is St. Paul’s Cathedral School too. I’m not sure what you are looking for OP - secure a place at which school? Do you mean you want a nursery that is part of a school that takes children right through to 18?

Hi OP

I live in Islington and my child goes to St Paul’s Cathedral School. Are you looking for a preschool that will prepare your child for the independent school assessments at 4+ or are you looking for an independent school with a nursery class attached?

If it is preschools you are looking for, I would look at:

Beckett House
The Children’s House
St Andrew’s Montessori
Hopes and Dreams

Depending on how old your child is, you may also need to start registering him / her for the independent schools. Do you know which ones you are interested in?
