My DS loves mindcraft because of a designing aspect of it. I thought if there were some workshops/ projects / courses? I know there is sketch up sowftare, but I thought it was linked with some project / course so that he gets a direction?

I just googled minecraft workshops. Loads came up. You can pick and choose ones near you, I think.

If you have a science museum/centre near you they are likely places as are libraries.
