Ealing (North Greenford) primary

Hi all

I wondered if any mums have insight into a few schools in my local area.

Edward Betham ( performs above or well above average in all measures)
Selborne (in Perivale, recently Ofsted outstanding, well above average in writing and maths but average in reading. Head teacher seems very committed)
Ravenor Primary (again well above average in everything except reading)
Oldfield (above average in most, average in reading)
Perivale primary (same as oldfields but recently Ofsted outstanding).

Any one with kids at these schools? i would appreciate your insights!

I have a friend who's underwhelmed with Selborne, she says that her son has found some of the playground behaviour quite intimidating, and that his class has spent most of the first term of reception waiting for a little group of "less school ready" children to get civilised more ready. Presumably their OFSTED rating suggests they do achieve this though.

I've also got friends who have been really happy with Perivale primary.

Two totally random anecdotes which don't help me decide!

Thanks for these insights. I think I will put Edward Beatham first but thats oversubscribed so will need to see come April 16th how we do. we would have got in for 2017 and 2016 entry but not 2015.

I am now thinking to select Ravenor for option 2. its doing well in ks2 measures but mot outstanding like Selbourne. but its nearer my mum so that helps too.

I am visiting Perivale and Coston soon. I was least impressed with Olsfields.

In selbourne the head took time out to show me around and that counted for a lot for me too.

Edward Beatham is also 2 form entry (Selboure and Ravenor are 3) and the younger kids are on another site which seems a nice introduction to school for a 4 year old.

Ravenors building is so impressive. so much space and amazing libraries (yes plural). EB is smaller but has really lovely break out rooms that i think kids would love.

The chair of govs at EB and Business manager at Ravenor also made a great impression. but i sent a follow up email to Ravenor about approaches to learning and no one has replied ....
