Taking baby to primary school open days.

I'm about to start looking round primary schools for DD1. She'll be at nursery during all the open days, but I have DD2 as well-she's about 7 months. Is it the done thing to take baby with you? Or should I arrange for someone to look after DD2 (easier said than done when I probably need to go round 6+ schools). What do others do?

I can't imagine it would be a problem.

At this age I think it's absolutely fine to take a baby. The only caveat would be that if there is a formal talk, and DD starts crying, you should be prepared to take her out straight away.

I would slightly caveat that I suggest ideally you would take her in a sling - not all schools will be set up for wheeling a buggy around.

Ok thanks. Yes I would take her out if crying and have a decent sling. I might try to arrange care for some of them at least. My poor DM will get plenty of grandchild time!

Could you take somebody with you who could take the baby out if there is a problem? I also agree that a sling is the better way to take her, you will have to walk around in narrow corridors and stairs.

In one school visiting parents were invited to stay for an assembly, a crying baby would have disturbed the presentation.

I took my 7 month old baby with me when I visited schools, I had no one to leave him with. It wasn't a problem at all. Good luck

I took my baby to all of them last year, it was fine. I took him in a sling as there were a lot of stairs in some of the schools
