I've just joined a new school as an Assistant Head, Phase Lead, Science lead and year 6 teacher and I am drowning!!

The school plans from scratch and there is currently no one in year 6 that has taught year 6 before. The deputy is great but I really need someone alongside me who has done the job before to show me the ropes so that I can lead properly. So far, it feels like a baptism of fire!

Any advice?

Hey:) was in same position as you and it is possible. I found it hard to do justice to my different responsibilities but priority had to be teaching good quality lessons to Year 6. Asked for help/ additional release when required and don't be afraid to ask. It's better to do a big job properly. Also, remember if you're a stressed, miserable teacher that's not fair on you, staff or children. Make you time and you'll be more efficient. :)
