Ds starts reception next week, his teacher is visiting all children in the class at home this week, I know the idea is safeguarding to meet them in their own environment so they are relaxed, but what do they do in the 20 minutes they are here for ?

Give you a chance to tell them anything you think is important for school to know about your child. Give your child a chance to interact with their teacher 1-1 in their home environment. No safeguarding.

I work in a Reception class and go on home visits - if it's anything like ours we ask the following -

What is their favourite food and what food they dislike. (ask the children this)

Who will be doing the pick ups at home time.

Ask parents if they have any worries or concerns.

Does the child do any outside activities.

Any siblings.

Any medical needs, regular medication

We also gently remind the parents to make sure that everything is labeled.
