Hi, I will be applying for a primary school place for dd next month and I am torn between two local schools... I have checked ofsted reports and will be attending the forthcoming open days but wandered if anyone had and. Feedback on either little Aston or hillwest schools in Sutton Coldfield. I have heard good and bad about both.
Many thanks

I don’t live in the Four Oaks area, but my daughter attends a couple of extra-curricular classes in the area my views are based on casual chats rather than personal experience.

My general impression is that all of the primary schools are good. I have friends with children at Little Sutton and Hillwest and they are happy.

It seems to me that the most important thing is making sure you pick a house very close to a good secondary school. Friends have been saying that school playgrounds are abuzz with tales of woe from families who moved to the area assuming they’d be safe for a place at Arthur Terry school, only to find that they just missed out on both that school and Plantsbrook. Because they weren’t keen on John Wilmott school they didn’t put it on their preference form, and consequently a number of children have been placed at a failing school quite a few miles away with a nightmare commute.

Again, please take this as second hand gossip and check the details for yourself :)
