Easter bloody Bonnets - advise me what to do please AAARGH

Easter parade at dd1's school on Wed.

dd1 has made an Easter headband out of a kit we bought at Tesco's, also a bunny mask, atm she is happy to wear those.

School leaflet clearly said it's not a competition, a headband is enough.

Now dd1's best friend told me that she made her dd's Easter bonnet completely by herself, it's a boater type hat with chicks on it and all the rest of it. I think that's so wrong, but I'm worried that dd1 will be envious. What should I do???

(I took both girls to Rainbows last week and dd1's friend actually said to me in a sad way "My mum won't let me make my Easter hat!")

I have to go out now, but will check later.

Thanks for advice

I have just bought 2 straw boaters for £1.25 each in one of those discount art shops, to be decorated with paper eggs and so on made by the dds. It seemed easier than making it from scratch. can you do that? (I'm guessing we can reuse the hats for other competitions in years to come).

I suppose I could, but the other problem is that dd1 has a very large hat so if I bought a cheap hat like that it might not fit her!

let her wear the headband
the friend being sad she couldn't make hers herself says it all

Thanks Mrs. B. I so agree with you, but I just don't want dd1 to feel bad.

I was wondering whether I should just talk to dd1 and ask her what she thinks.

I think I'll keep bumping this if that's okay!

def let your dd wear the headband she has decorated herself - don't be swayed by your daft friend.

And just be full of praise for her efforts - she will remember your comments far more than what the other kids are wearing at this age

Hi emkana - think you should go with what your dd wants.

fwiw my dd has a 'crazy hat' day on Wednesday - she is 4 - I just got her straw hat from dressing up box and sewed on a yellow chick soft toy(her choice - she could have gone for a rabbit or ladybird either!), then added some fluffy boa stuff that I had in sewing box. On Wed morning dd will pick some daffodils and we will stick around the band on hat. So it is crazy and Easter!

Think the answer lies with what your dd wants to do.
