My dd needs to increase the pace of her writing so she can write more in an allocated time slot. Also she seems to be a little careless with punctuation at times and lack of adjectives....any ideas as i would like to work with her over the summer...

Thank you, Liadain Cross posted.
Yep, I will try your suggestion, I agree, he is over thinking, and can't let go. He really struggles to write at school, especially within limited time. I think it must be one of the biggest reason.

It is fabulous though that he wants to write the story Flowers It's exactly what you want to develop, an interest in writing.

Writing can be very slow paced and pressured for children, he's not alone!

Pinterest has writing prompt pictures iirc, though I think they're a bit difficult to start off with in free writing. Great resource though!

Thank you, again. It really gave me a hope how to help him. He has got below average for effort in writing, 2 years in a row, on his end of year report. On his work book, there were repeated teacher's comments, "not enough writing", "2 sentence in 30 minutes isn't acceptable", etc, etc. I didn't know what/how to help, but this simple exercise gave me a bit of clue what's the problem.

I've only used literacy shed for film clips but it has them arranged in categories eg. The adventure shed or the fantasy shed. Within each category are relevant short films. Usually without speech. I used it for year one and there is a KS1 shed which simply lists all the films that are suitable for that age group - saved me from having to watch them all first.

OP, how's it going? Any progress?

Thank you again, mrz and Liadain.
My ds has been doing 3 minutes free writing everyday since he started. If I forget it, he reminds me to do it. After failure from picture(pobble) topic, we decided to go with simple topics like summer/sky/ocean/dragons, etc.
I don't know about the quality, but now he is more focused on keep writing, rather than staring into empty space. Great so far.
He also decided to type it up using khan programming to make it into a little book end of the summer. We are really enjoying this summer project, and will be carrying on after summer, I think.(hope.)
