When do your school holidays start?

Hi quick question. If you live in England - particularly the south - when do your school holidays start?

We are off to Centre Parcs Woburn on Friday and I'm hoping it's not too busy. We live in Scotland our school holidays started a couple of weeks ago but due to other members of our group this was the only week we book. I did check a few of the local council websites for holiday dates and it appears most of the schools will be finishing up the week after we go (so around 24th July?). I'm not entirely sure of all the areas though and I think I may have missed out a fair few.

I know it will be relatively busy as some people will take kids out of school early to save money, but I was hoping it would be a little bit quieter than the peak summer holiday season madness.

Not until July 21st here. Friends with dc at private school are already on holiday.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 09/07/2017 12:28

26th july

You can tell how busy cparcs are by looking at pricing then availability. - imho they're never especially quiet apart from start/end of year - just get to pool early in this weather :)

MyBootsAreMuddy · 09/07/2017 12:30

I'm in SW one of mine broke up Friday 7th, one is on weds 12th and the others fri 14th lunch time.
They are in private school though, as far as I know the state schools in my area break up on 21st.

ThanksForAllTheFish · 09/07/2017 12:30

I was kind of hoping most would be around that date.

21st is the day we leave so I'm thinking we will just miss all the peak season madness, but it will still be busy enough there will be plenty of other children for DD and her cousins to interact/ play with.

Frankiestein401 This weather? You have sunshine? Is it really warm?

  • looks out window at torrential rain and wind.

We are 13 degrees today. I think we've had 2 nice days so far since the schoools broke up. It's been rain the rest of the time Sad

24th but we have 2 inset day. Hampshire officially starts on 26th!

ThanksForAllTheFish · 09/07/2017 12:52

Ok I will make sure I pack some shorts. I've been checking my weather app on and off for the weather in Woburn but it's been swinging between clouds and rain, to glorious sunshine. I think I will pack for warm weather with the possibility of some rain. Don't think we will need wellies but will take some boots anyway and make sure we have lighter weight waterproof coats.

In East Yorkshire, we (staff) are supposed to finish on Tuesday 25th July, but we had our two inset days as evening trainings during Spring term, instead. So we get to finish with the kids on Friday 21st July !Grin

Yorkshire here
21st for Primary DS and most secondaries round here but one of them finishes on 25th
DD (Private) finished last Friday

SquirmOfEels · 10/07/2017 08:21

There's a thing called the London Inter Authority Admissions Group (LIAAG), and amongst other things they (attempt to) coordinate all borough term dates. It doesn't always work!

Many London boroughs finish on 21 July.

Private schools have all finished now.

Only1scoop · 10/07/2017 08:48

We've already broken up

This is the 2 weeks we do stuff as it's still relatively quiet.

CruCru · 10/07/2017 18:09

Our school breaks up at midday on Friday (14 July).
