Hi currently my two sons go to our small local primary school DS1 is aged 6 and just about to finish year 1 and DS2 is aged 4 and about to finish nursery, however in September their school will be closing and merging with 2 other local schools .. I have applied to move my sons to a local smaller school and they have been accepted , however since finding out about the move my sons have been so upset at the prospect of leaving their friends that I'm wondering have I done the right thing.. Should I carry on with the move or see if it's possible they could go up to the merged school .. Really regretting my decision to move them didn't think it would upset them so much 😔😔

Was there a reason you didn't want them going to the merged schools originally?

I felt it was too far to walk and I think panicked at the size which is around 700 pupils .. It's the biggest school on the island .. However since my children found out they will be moving they've been very upset at the thought of leaving friends especially my eldest .. Do you think I could stop the move or is it to late? Thankyou worried I've made wrong decision 😔

Big schools are fine and some are great. They are the norm in many places. Can you get a place? Id go with friends personally

Ibstock or Harrodian for primary? Any thoughts.

We live in a small town so small local primaries are the norm here . This is the 1st school to merge ever on the island. I think I've just panicked and not thought about it however after many phone calls and stress I have managed to get my sons their places back at the big school I feel a move with friends is probably best . If they don't like the school I suppose we could look at a move then , but here's hoping they'll like it thanks for your comments
