When does the application process start for reception places in 2018?

September. Look at your council's web site for exact dates.

Ours doesn't open until 1st November and closes 15th January 2018.

Ours opens in September. The more important bit is that you apply by the 15th January.

Nurseries usually give out the forms in September. Applying early makes no difference to your chances of getting your first choice(s) though.

Our one for 2017 opened in November and closed mid-January. We didn't get forms from nursery or pre-school and nothing was sent to the house. Check your LA website as the information should be on there.

Nurseries aren't obliged to give out forms so any one reading this shouldn't rely on that. Most people apply on line and it is the parents' responsibility to find out info and apply on time. You won't get any kind of official reminder.

It will open in September or November depending on what your local authority do and the closing date is usually the second week of January. If you go to your council website it will have all the info you need but it will still probably be listing info for Sept 2017 intake so wait til after autumn term starts. Then you can ring some schools and make appointments for visits.
