OFSTED inspections

So, the rumours at our school are that for special measures or outstanding schools, the OFSTED inspection takes three days, not two. Does anyone know if this is true?

Not true.

Ofsted now do a 1 day inspection for schools rated good. They only do a second day if the school is either outstanding or requires improvement.

You will not be told why they are there for a second day.

AH! So, for a first ever inspection (new school) it would be two days. But not three days. That makes much more sense. One for a check over, two for a full inspection.

An already outstanding school is exempt from routine inspection and will only undergo full inspection if performance drops.

That's interesting mrz. So once a school is outstanding, it is potentially never inspected again?

Just remember those that can`t teach inspect! Ha!

A local outstanding school was last routinely inspected over ten years ago

And an academy conversion school may have been in special measures but due to the conversion and becoming a 'new'school, will have the Special measures judgement removed and three years from conversion to the next inspection. Doesn't necessarily mean anything has improved in the school. Check back historically.

It is eight years since the school I Chair has been inspected. There are triggers that would initiate a visit, a drop in results that cannot be explained, safeguarding failures or a Prevent incident.

However, we always maintain a be prepared mentality just in case they arrive.
