Ds's letter is due tommorow. He will have got in as his sisters go there.

I am dreading the letter coming, never mind him actually going.

I am so in denial about it, my mum was on about boys school shoes and i wanted to stick my fingers in my ears and shout lalalalalala

I had a letter ages ago saying DD1 had got into local school.
I am dreading her going.

ScoobyDooooo · 18/03/2007 16:12

Had my letter last weekend, ds got accepted into first choice & starts in september am actually dreading it too, i really hope he will be ok.

sassy · 18/03/2007 16:12

Dd1's letter due on 29th March. we are not in catchment for our preferred school so I am a bit apprehensive.
And I can't wait for Sept - she has too much energy for me to cope with and needs it channelling!(Know I'll be totally different when its dd2 though, the baby being at school is different to the big one!)

NuttyMuffins · 18/03/2007 16:31

I am keeping fingers crossed that Ds gets the same reception teacher that his sisters had as she and her assistant are fantastic.

I was fine when Dd1 went to school and Dd2 but Ds is my baby, surely he is meant to stay home and keep me company

I should be getting The Letter tomorrow. I am keeping my fingers crossed for our local school. And then I am going into deep denial about the whole thing

NuttyMuffins · 18/03/2007 16:37

Yep denial is best, i agree.

NuttyMuffins - according to my ds (who is my baby, and also the third) he isn't going to school with his db and ds. He's going shopping with me .
And yes i'm still waiting for my letter. End of the month i think. Wasn't until boys school shoes was mentioned on here that i suddenly realised it might actually be real

ledodgy · 18/03/2007 22:00

Yes ours is due this month too. However we will be moving anyway if not before September sometime after. Does anybody know the procedure for applying for school places if you move to a different town later in the year?

HumphreysCorner · 19/03/2007 12:13

Got my letter last Thursday and although I will be a touch sad I agree with sassy as my DD1 is hyper all the time so feel school will be the making of her. Don't think the teachers will have seen anything like her before. DD2 on the other hand-calm and quiet.

Incidently-anyone know what happens next? Do we get to look round the school, how do we know what uniform to buy and most importantly, what day do they start in September? Will the school contact me?

feetheart · 19/03/2007 12:19

We got our letter on 1st March and DD got into our first choice thankfully as the school that we are in the catchment area for is awful.
Still can't believe she will be starting, she still looks FAR too small. Can I join the 'fingers in the ears' brigade please?

No idea what happens next either though.

Clary · 19/03/2007 12:23

School should contact you with a date/dates for children to come in (towards the end of next term) and meet the teacher, and prob an evening for parents to meet head/governors etc.

They should also tell you then about uniform - but you don't need to get it until school summer hols - not on sale anywhere until then and they always grow! I always leave school shoes esp until towards the end of the hol for that reason (but don't leave it too late or you'll be caught up in the mad rush!)

Top tip - if you find sthg you like in Sainsbury's range buy lots as they don't seem to do it once september has gone. Their's were the only nice quality girls polo shirts I could find but I only got 2 and no more left when I went back in Oct/Nov....

pooka · 19/03/2007 12:29

We find out on Saturday. Will get email (did online application) at 9am.

Am also rather apprehensive. Still - any of the 3 choices would be fine, but obviously would rather have the closest school as dd already goes to nursery there.

And then we'll have the long wait until January when she actually goes.

HumphreysCorner · 19/03/2007 14:21

I did an online application but got a letter and no EMail.

Thanks Clary-will wait on contact from the school. Ooh, that visit to the school will make it all seem real.

DeviousDaffodil · 19/03/2007 14:33

DS2 is in our 1st choice school - same as DS1 thank goodness.
Cannot believe my baby is 4, not sure the school know what they are letting themselves in for tbh!

Clary · 19/03/2007 14:34

HC you know if you were worried you could contact the school, I am sure they will be happy to supply dates/details.

We just do one visit in class by the children but other local schools do 3-4 afternoons in school as "link days" which I think must be a good idea.

Gobbledigook · 19/03/2007 14:44

Our letters get posted out on 30th March so should get them on the Saturday when we have broken up for Easter.

I'm not too worried as we are in catchment and ds1 is already at the school. 3 of my close friends are all out of zone though - one just on the border but the other 2 quite a way out. I feel for them - they are very stressed, even though they too have siblings in the school. Apparently it's quite oversubscribed for this intake.

I'm not too tearful about ds2 going. He's my middle one, not baby, and he's at the school nursery now so it won't seem like such a big thing. I can't wait to see him in his uniform - he will look gorgeous!

I will be more weepy when ds3 goes teh following year as he will only turn 4 on 29th August and be in school the next week! Plus, he's my last one. Sniff.

Eleusis · 20/03/2007 09:28

I signed on this morning to see DD has gotten into the school of choice. We are way far away from it, so I was nervous. But, we go to the church and DD is now in the nursery. So I thought she would probably get in. But, it is such a relief to see it in writing. YIPPEE!!!!

And I can't wait to send her off.

She is so ready for school. Too bad it's only a half day until April 2008.

Gobbledigook · 01/04/2007 20:56

Got school of choice for ds2 - the school that ds1 goes to already.

One friend (out of zone with sibling) got in, but other two friends didn't (also out of zone with siblings). I guess they'll be going on the waiting list now....

Gobbledigook · 01/04/2007 20:57

I did online application adn got an email on Friday night - I wasn't expecting that at all. Got letter Saturday morning as expected.

Greenleeves · 01/04/2007 20:59

I'm waiting to hear about ds1's but nobody here seems to think there will be a problem. God knows what I'll do if he doesn't get a place at the school round the corner, all his preschool friends are going there!

MerlinsBeard · 01/04/2007 21:02

ours should have been posted on 31st so we should have them soon. I only out one school down and am already dreading doing that!

We get letter from council then letter from school wrt classes, start dates etc

ChasingRabbits · 01/04/2007 21:03

think ours is 23 April, seems to be one of the latest in the country.

Curlygirly · 01/04/2007 21:49

We didn't get any of our 3 choices and have appealed and lost the appeals. We applied for a school out of the borough and they don't let anyone know until May.

octo · 01/04/2007 21:54

We didn't get our place for ds2 (same school as ds1) and are waiting to hear if a place has come up or whether we need to appeal - said won't know this until May. And after that we need to wait for an appeal date.....

I am trying no to think about it but is driving me loopy!

Curlygirly · 01/04/2007 22:04

We have been offered the worst school in the area. So stressful.
