Ofsted outstanding - no more inspections at all?

I was under the impression our school would've be inspected at some point soon as the last full inspection is many years ago. Today someone told me that outstanding school are not inspected unless their results or attendance give cause for concern or parents raise issues. Is that right?

I'd be delighted - I'd rather teachers could just get on with doing what their doing, but was surprised as I thought the intervals were just longer and inspections shorter

They will be inspected, but possibly at longer intervals and a light touch one day inspection, unless something is flagged up in the SEF or some other issue. Or maybe if there's a change of head.

Of course, if the inspectors discover some thing on the day, they could extend it to get more information.

Our school hasn't been inspected for nearly a decade.

New head and mostly new staff.

Results have been consistently good (including progress) and a friend who is a governor has stated quite confidently that as long as the results stay good, they are not expecting OFSTED to turn up.

Which is a shame really, because a) the school has turned quite 'results-obsessed' to the detriment of much else (in order to avoid having OFSTED in), and b) they could really do with someone pointing out certain weaknesses (e.g. they do not follow the NC for example regarding phonics/mixed methods teaching).

Not inspected for a decade! Wow, my schools is a tiny special school for LAC children which was last inspected in May 2012. We have been expecting Ofsted for the last two years and it's been horrible having it hanging over us. I had assumed they would turn up in the next 4 weeks and I have been having a heart attack since we returned from Easter every time the phone rings around lunchtime. Don't tell me we could be waiting another 5 years ConfusedConfused Our last Ofsted was good but we have a different Head Teacher.
