I've accepted the offer we received, but what happens next?

I want to find out whether the school has a staggered start, how to book in for the breakfast club etc.

Do the schools contact us or should we email them?

Find a local Facebook group and find some parents from the school to ask. There may even be a group set up for new starters at your school.
The school's website may say who provides the breakfast/after-school clubs, so you can contact them directly.

Schools won't have a list of children yet as movement will happen in the next 2 months. Once they have a list they need to organise which children will be in which class only then can they decide which children start on which days and how the days will work for the first few weeks. That is after sats and commitments to the pupils already in school. It is a hassle waiting but schools have a lot of work to do before they can inform parents about the finer details. Expect a meeting end of June or beginning of July to inform you of the details.

Thanks for the helpful replies.

I'm not being impatient I just don't know the protocol and don't want to sit around doing nothing if I'm supposed to be being proactive.
Though it would be good to know if there is going to be a staggered start so I can book unpaid leave to cover it.

You just need to be patient a while I'm afraid

Is there any info on the school website about whether they do staggered starts, or if not is there a local Facebook group you can ask existing parents?

louisejxxx · 21/04/2017 07:43

I think you should maybe call re the after school club and starting arrangements (although be prepared for them to say nothing has even been arranged yet!) but I certainly don't think you need to get an idea of the layout of the school.

You should always accept it if you want it - it is an offer of a place at this point so if you don't, at least theoretically it could be taken away if you don't formally accept it.

Dixie2016 · 21/04/2017 08:37

I've already accepted the offer.

  1. Accept the offer
  2. Check school website
  3. Wait for school to contact you

You could call them of course but the info they send out / tell you at introductory meeting will tell you all you need to know.
