A couple of us mums have been asking parents of year 6 if they are interested in a big party for the end of term in the summer. Of the 60 kids in year 6, we have had positive responses from 51! Now what the hell are we going to do with them - anyone done something similar or got any good ideas to throw around? Cheers girls!

picnic at a park. Bring footballs, etc.

trouble is with football Earlybird, is you end up with boys not interacting with the girls!

A bbq and disco in the school grounds

School up the road does a leavers ball and the kids love it.

DimpledThighs · 09/03/2007 16:43

disco karoke type thing?
BBQ?

what were you thinking princescc!

DimpledThighs · 09/03/2007 16:43

ooh a proper ball would be tres cool but would need a bit of organinsing.

I think the only difference between the ball and a disco was the kids all dressed up for it. Other than that I think it was still a disco in the school hall. Some of the parents paid for their kids to go there in a limo.

Sorry - I had to go and feed children! The nerve of them! Still haven't finished all my motherly duties for the evening, but I will be back later.

Anyway, its because the school don't do anything, that we thought we'd do it. So the school field is not an option. We are going to ask the parents for contributions, which they are all happy about and we thought we'd hire a hall. One idea was to get everyone to give us a baby photo and then we could stick them on the walls and the kids could have a competition to guess whos who. brother shoots dvd's, so he is coming to do that and will get sound bites and get them doing things for the camera. Apart from that, we are a bit stuck. 2 hours to fill. (Food of course will be served at some stage).

could you club together and hire an entertainer or tell them in groups to put together a short piece and perform it - the sillier the better - those kind of things make good memories.

The photo idea is great too.

What about a kind of "Stars in their Eyes" thing, in groups. Get them to plan it ahead of time. You could have Girls Aloud, McFly (a few plastic guitars from £1 shop!), etc etc.
