MaLT test results

Does anyone know how to interpret the results from the MaLT tests ( mathematics asssessmemt from leaning and teaching ) ?

I have my child's raw score and standardised score but all the school can tell me is that it's above average < helpful>

I've googled but I can only find information about the test itself and not the results and what they mean.

Usually in a standardised test 100 is average, 115 is a little above average, 123 is above average, and 140 is very good. Does that sound about right from the standardised score number you have?

which MaLT test was it? I have the mark schemes for some of them

Thank you both. It's MaLT 10 as he's in year 5.

Standardised score is 130 so I guess that's what the school said - above average.

I thought he would have done better than just above average TBH as he likes maths and he thought he had done quite well.

But he has severe dyslexia so I'm not sure if the language part of the questions is causing him some difficulties.

130 would be about top 2% so is a good score.

Oh that's encouraging , he will be pleased 😅

Language ( especially spelling) is so hard for him, he wants to succeed at something IYSWIM.

I wish the school would just tell us this, rather than just tell us average / below / above.

" Above average " sound like 55% to me, not 98%.

I think most of those test categorize 135+ as exceptional.
So, 130 is waaaaaaaaaaay above average.

He will be so pleased Grin

He's the worse the the class at spelling and handwriting ( unsurprisingly ) so it knocks his confidence. It doesn't matter how often we tell him that handwriting isn't examined at A level and his number work is clear enough and well laid out.
