So I've just left our parent teaching consultation for our 6 yearold DD in year 1. She's been doing really well at school only that they have introduction a new reading test which now puts her from top to a year behind in reading! I know this is only a test and next year it will be something different but slightly concerned that last parents evening she was in top group for everything and now I am told she needs extra teaching. At home shes come on noticeably with maths and English. Does anyone know what this test is? Her teaching said 'its definitely not Biff Chip and Floppy.'

It could well be the difference between verbally answering questions as part of an individual/group reading session-where your child has excelled- and a written reading test set by the school where your child has struggled with the format/content/concentration required and has therefore come out "below" where assessed previously

I would think along same lines as coconut oil probably the rising stars test or similar that loads of schools do half termly now (personally think this is very ott) but that gives a score to be below, at or above expected.

I think it's unlikely to be last year's SATs Reading test (they will be hanging onto that for next year to familiarise children with the format). Much more likely to one of the many commercial tests available.
