Cut the square into the remaining quarters. Cut those quarters into quarters.

JustEatYourDinner · 22/02/2017 18:29

Sorry, posted too soon. This makes 12 small squares.
12 is divisible by four. So each bit is three squares big.

Yes, agree. Cut each 1/4 square into 4 pieces.
each 3/4 of smaller squares are equal size.(3/16 from large square.

3/4 divide by 4 = 3/16 , I think.

Try googling "how to divide an l shape into 4 equal parts". There are some images which might help.

Ginmakesitallok · 22/02/2017 18:33

How do you arrange those 4 groups of 3 squares to make them identical? I have an urge to get some paper and scissors

You need to find a pattern which uses 3/4 of a square(a square being the small one)

I think a series of L shapes would work

JustEatYourDinner · 22/02/2017 18:36

Sorry after playing around...

Yes, I agree. Use a ruler to draw the other 3 quarters then dived each quarter into 4. This makes 12 smaller square. 12 is divisible by 4 so each equal part will be 3 small squares. She could colour each 3 in a different colour to make it clear.

lougle · 22/02/2017 18:37

But those aren't identical. One is straight and three are L shaped.

lougle · 22/02/2017 18:38

Ignore me...my eyes. I've just looked again.

lougle · 22/02/2017 18:39

Ahh...you put a second picture up Grin

JustEatYourDinner · 22/02/2017 18:39

JustEatYourDinner · 22/02/2017 18:40
