Parsons Green Prep - a great school with an amazing community feel. I have two children here who have been extremely happy for the past 4 years. Yr 6 children all seem to do very well with moving on to next schools.

Thank you - that's really helpful and sounds very positive!

I read online that Parsons Green Prep change headmasters frequently. Would anyone happen to know why? I am a bit concerned about this. Our kids got into Parsons Green Prep and I would like to accept the offer but worried about frequent change of upper mgt. Thanks in advance.

Sorry I didn't come across this earlier. ex PGP mum here.

  • school does change the heads frequently there was 4 changes of heads in the last 5 years.
  • school doesn't retain good teachers. there's a very high turn around.
  • the culture of the school is parent intolerant
  • they are not overly academic either. their test results depend highly on the year's children and parents have to do extra leg work to get into the schools of their choice.
  • they are known to escalate conflict situations unnecessarily. usually by year 4 parents begin to run for hills to other schools . this will explain the small number of students in the year 6 group.

if you are looking for lovely small school environment - Sinclair House, Fulham Prep Junior are far better choices.
I hope it help someone in the future making this choice.

I couldn’t agree more with the above post.

Rgm1 · 03/07/2018 22:22

Like any school, always a few unhappy past parents.

Recent Yr 6 results at PGP have been fantastic. Extremely happy children and strong sense of community amongst parents.

Would certainly view the school to see everything it has to offer - good luck!

sanam2010 · 04/07/2018 12:52

Rgm1, would you care to share the fantastic results? The school doesn't, which is very unusual for schools with fantastic results.

rpg123 · 07/09/2018 17:44

Thank you Hamful, super helpful.
Thus Parsons Green Prep School has any recent reports? Last Ofsted I checked was from 2009 and it was rated "good". Anything else I can look at and see how strong the academics are?

Chocaholic100 · 26/10/2018 17:23

Hi all. I was just wondering where rpg123 and benantha got to on his / her research into Parsons Green prep and any conclusions. I visited the school and thought it was great but having read this thread, I am now quite concerned about high teacher-turnover. It is a beautiful building / great outdoor space and the new head seems really switched on and knowledgable. Any thoughts gratefully received!!!!!

Ex PGP parent here. Happy to talk about my experience if you want to PM me.

OP short answer - neither. If you are going to pay that much in private school fees you can do so much better in the Fulham/Putney area - eg Merlin, Ken Prep, Thomas’s. As sanam2010 says when schools don’t openly publish results and leavers destinations in detail you’ve got to wonder why.

TropicalGiraffe · 02/12/2018 14:59

Agree with the previous post. These both are schools I would question spending money on, even if I had a lot of money. They are very small schools which struggle to keep their numbers up and don't publish results for a reason! The options locally are just so much better - Merlin, Ken Prep, Thomas's but also Fulham Prep, Latymer Prep (from 7+), Bute House (if you can get a golden place), Putney High, Prospect House, Roche or commute slightly further in to Falkner House, Ravenscourt Park etc.
Or local state schools will offer a lot.

hi ladies
Please advise re independent prep schools. Currently have offers from Fulham prep and Parsons Green prep but not sure which one to go?

legoninjago1 · 11/02/2020 18:06

Have you looked at any others in the area @Manamama ? Hurlingham? Or are you firmly Fulham side of bridge?

Manamama · 11/02/2020 18:58

We live in PG, only applied to these two schools as they are at walking distance and also because most schools applications deadline had passed by the time we started applying for schools.

Sinclair House School has been the making of my daughter who has been there since reception.

The head owns the school which makes a huge and invaluable difference. She is totally focussed and it’s just for want of a better way of describing - like a family. I could NOT recommend more highly or passionately. The nurture and affection our daughter has been shown is like that of a family whilst also receiving a wonderful education. Small, intricate and perfect in every way. I love it and can’t wait to send her sister!

Parsons green prep
I have my daughters the last three years. The Headmaster is doing an excellent work. The level is amazing and the staff devoted and hard working. I’m extremely happy with PGP and highly recommended.
