Is KCS Wimbledon from Weybridge too far/too difficult

We are waiting to see if ds gets an offer for KCS at 11+ right now (if not, then I guess my query is pointless!). We love the school and if we get an offer we would be really keen to take it. My only concern is travel.
KCS run many bus services but the nearest any come to us is Esher - I'd have to drive ds there every morning to catch the bus at 7.30, then collect him at around 5pm to bring him home. Or I could drive him all the way there and back each day, but a big commitment. No direct trains to Wimbledon from Weybridge in the morning (though there are direct trains back in the afternoon). Does anyone have ds who travel to KCS from this area and if so how is it working out? Also concerned in case ds makes lots of new friends who all live in central London so lots of travelling to socialise! Do many KCS pupils travel in from Surrey side?

My brother in law did it as a kid in the dark ages.

Wouldn't that be a trek for before/after school activities, parents' evenings, concerts etc. Do you have any closer options?

LIZS yes that is what I'm concerned about. Other potential option is RGS (again, if we get the offer), which is about the same distance but in the other direction. Train travel easier to RGS and possibly feasible for us to move house in that direction at some point, so in many ways more practical. Just if KCS do offer, we love the school so I just wondered if there were other people out there who were doing the journey (or simillar) and finding it ok (or not!). Perhaps we won't get the offer(s) then all this will go away!!
