Spellings in year 2

Do all children at this age get spellings? My daughter does not and never has from her school. Am thinking of raising this with her head at a meeting.

Ds1 has spellings and is in year 1 - he has had them since a few weeks after he went into year 1 last September.

DS gets 12 words a week and has done since year 1.

My son (yr2) has had spellings since year 1. He has about 5 a week but our neighbours' son has 15, which I think it is too much. Ask about spellings may be they do it at school, rather than homework.

Thanks for your responses. Will definately be raising this as they do not do spellings instead of homework.

Dd1 gets 5 words every couple of weeks , majority get them every week though Yr1/2

My son get spellings and he is in Yearc 2. He gets about 6 a week and also had them when he was in year 1

DD is in yr 2 and gets 16 spellings a week, difficult ones and far too many imo.

DS gets 8 pr week - they are tailored to ability of child and the more able ones get up to 12. My friend's child at another school though has 15 and they are seriously hard (her and her dh have trouble too!!) I was gobsmacked when I read them.
